Digital radiography is a type of X-ray imaging that uses digital X-ray sensors to replace traditional photographic X-ray film, producing enhanced computer images of teeth, gums, and other oral structures and conditions. Risk of radiation exposure is low in dental digital imaging. Protective lead aprons and thyroid collars are used on all patients to take precaution. It is very safe to have dental radiographs taken and we take great care that no one receives more radiation than what is absolutely necessary to meet standard of care.
